Updates for S Series

This firmware update introduces the improved autofocus features and performance found in the new LUMIX S5 to LUMIX S1, S1R, and S1H: In addition to eye-autofocus, the new firmware allows the camera to recognize the face and body separately in real-time tracking. As a result, even when the subject is moving quickly and/or when their head is turned away, the camera is able to maintain focus.
Additionally, several other autofocus features have been improved:
  • Animal recognition is now available
  • AF+MF mode can now be used in video recording
  • AF performance during V-Log recording is improved
This update also includes improvements to video recording functionalities:
  • A recording indication frame is added to S1R and S1
  • 5K and 10-bit HDR video recording as well as 4K 60p/50p 4:2:2 10-bit video output via HDMI are added to S1R
  • C4K (4096x2160) video recording as well as 5.9K/4K/Anamorphic 3.5K 12-bit RAW video output via HDMI is added to S5
Other areas that Panasonic has improved include WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, vertical video playback, and more.
