Product Overview

Porsche 718 Cayman 982 is a compact sports car in production from 2016. It is available with a range of flat-4 and flat-6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 4.0 liters.
A large part of the reason that owners purchase the Porsche 718 Cayman (982) is the mid-mounted boxer engine, which has very low center of gravity, instant power response, and perfect smoothness.
Unfortunately, the 982 uses MacPherson strut front suspensions just like its 911 bigger brother.

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 87% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The Cayman GT4 costs around £75,000. You can then add the carbon-ceramic brakes for £5597, carbonfibre bucket seats for £3788 and the Clubsport Pack – which includes a roll cage, a 2.5kg fire extinguisher and a six-point harness – for £2778. Even at more than £85,000 the GT4 seems fine value for money.
Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Fantastic handling
  • Impressive handling
Cons
  • Lack of steering correction

Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Porsche 718 Cayman is the entry point to the world of new Porsche ownership. Prices start at around £45,000, but it's one of the best handling and most accessible sports cars you can buy. The standard Cayman features a 2.0-litre turbocharged flat-four making 296bhp, and it comes with either a 6-speed manual or optional 7-speed PDK twin-clutch auto.
Pros
  • Best-in-class handling
  • Fantastic infotainment system
Cons
  • Pricier than the Cayman S

carwow[3]

Reviewer score 94% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carwow have found:
The Porsche 718 Cayman sits in the shadow of the firm's iconic 911. It's every bit as fantastic to drive and has a similarly impressive interior. Even the entry-level 2.0-litre Cayman has 300hp and can get you from 0-62mph in just 5.1 seconds. Enthusiasts will miss the characterful howl of the old model's six-cylinder engine.
Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Fantastic infotainment system
Cons
  • Expensive to buy
  • Alternatives are more fun to drive

cnet[4]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
, Sport Plus and Individual drive modes that come with it. The T has plenty of torque, sure, but the rev-matching throttle blips on a downshift can become addictive. Losing the flat-six howl of old robs the Cayman of some character. Even with the T's sports exhaust, it just doesn't sound good.
Pros
  • Powerful turbo engine
  • Fun to drive
  • Excellent infotainment system
Cons
  • Noisy turbo
  • Noisy exhaust
