Product Overview

Toyota GR86 Mk2 is an affordable compact sports car in production from 2021. It is available with a single flat-4 engines that displaced 2.4 liters.
Essentially, the Mk2 GR86 is Toyota's version of the Subaru BRZ II. The difference is that the GR86 has a suspension setup more suitable for street use but with more compromises for track use.
Like another sports coupe in Toyota's current model lineup, the Supra 5, the GR86 is the result of badge engineering.

Reviewer score 88% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
Toyota’s GR division has developed another great performance car to join the GR Yaris and Supra. Officially unveiled in final European specification on 2nd December. A 17 per cent increase in power to 234hp and torque not only swells by 45Nm to 250Nm but it arrives from 3,700rpm, nearly 3,000rpm lower.
Pros
  • Gorgeous looks and feel
  • Fantastic infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of torque
  • Not the most fun to drive

carmagazine[2]

Reviewer score 81% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The GR86 is a joint venture between Toyota and Subaru but only the Toyota version will be sold in the UK this time. It's still full of hard plastics but it's less dated looking than the GT86, and the bits your hands and elbows touch are padded, softened and upped in quality. There's a touchscreen mid-dash which is small-ish but legible, and doesn't dominate your view. At the time of writing, pricing is still being decided.
Pros
  • Gorgeous styling
  • Excellent handling
  • Good range of engines
Cons
  • A little knuckly in feel
  • Pricing could be better

digitaltrends[3]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
Toyota claims the new car is quicker, quoting zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds with the manual transmission and 6.6 seconds for the automatic. There isn't a massive difference between the base GR 86 and the Premium model when it comes to tech. The Premium does get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive front headlights.
Pros
  • More fun to drive
  • Improved engine
  • Improved handling
Cons
  • Less practical than its predecessor
  • Lack of safety features
