Product Overview

Mazda CX-5 II (chassis code KF) is an affordable compact crossover in production from 2017. It is available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 2.0 to 2.5 liters.
Compared to the original CX-5, the Mk2 is an evolution in styling. Compared to the cheaper CX-3, the CX-5 has independent rear suspensions and access to more powerful engines.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, need to think twice before pulling the trigger: the Mazda CX-5 II is hardly the "offroader" that Mazda would like you to think.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 58% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
Even with the new cylinder shutdown system, this car returns only 45mpg on a typical motorway cruise. It would probably average something between 35mpg and 40mpg in mixed short- and long-range use. The CX-5 remains a very agreeable car to drive. It’s slightly tauter in its body control, meatier feeling through its controls and crisper and more linear in its responses than the average small SUV.
Pros
  • Relatively quiet
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Not the most intuitive infotainment system

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Mazda CX-5 is one of Mazda's best-selling cars in the UK. Prices start from just under £28,000, but all cars are very well equipped. Sat-nav is standard across the range as is privacy glass, auto lights and wipers, LED headlights, climate control and full parking sensors.
Pros
  • Fun to drive
  • Lots of practicality
  • Good standard equipment
Cons
  • Pricier than rivals
  • Lacks refinement

cnet[3]

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The CX-5 remains a delight to drive, with a well-judged ride-and-handling mix. The turbo engine significantly improves the way the crossover drives in all situations. The 360-degree camera system is a nice-to-have, but its usefulness is eroded by its poor optics.
Pros
  • Class-leading performance
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Lots of standard equipment
Cons
  • Expensive for what it offers
  • Lackluster ride quality
