Product Overview

Mazda CX-3 (chassis code DK) is an affordable subcompact crossover in production from 2015. It is available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 1.5 to 2.0 liters.
Essentially a taller Mazda2, the CX-3 is just about an unnecessary vehicle that confused consumers think is "cool".
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, need to think twice before pulling the trigger: the Mazda CX-3 is hardly the "offroader" that Mazda would like you to think. The Mazda CX-3 also comes with a high towing capacity.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 59% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The CX-3 was already one of the more engaging crossovers. The latest raft of updates have helped Mazda to pull even further ahead of the pack. The rev-happy petrol engine makes you feel like you’re making swift progress. The diesel version delivers reasonable pace, with the small turbo working hard to maintain power. It’s refined at a cruise, but a little strained once you ignore the upshift indicator.
Pros
  • Punchy petrol engine
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Lacklustre infotainment

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 72% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
Mazda introduced the CX-3 to cater for the demand for compact crossovers. The neat exterior styling is matched by a simple yet smart interior. With smart looks, a classy interior and grown-up driving dynamics, it's a desirable choice. The Mazda is also very attractively priced, packed with standard kit and really cost-effective to run.
Pros
  • Best-in-class small SUV
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of space in the rear seats

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 82% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The CX-3's AWD system uses 27 sensor signals to look not only at the car, but at what the driver is doing, too. It can then ‘predict' the torque split required for the conditions. On these tyres the car would definitely have been fine with front-wheel drive alone, but it wouldn't have been anywhere near as much fun. The studded tyres are illegal in the UK, though normal ones would have worked too.
Pros
  • Fantastic all-wheel drive
  • Fun to drive
Cons
  • Alternatives are more fun
  • No automatic gearbox

digitaltrends[4]

Reviewer score 61% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitaltrends have found:
For the all-wheel drive model we tested, those numbers fall slightly to 27 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Both Honda and Hyundai offer high-tech safety features, but you have to work your way up the ladder before being able to check those boxes. The 2019 Mazda CX-3 comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty.
Pros
  • Sleek styling
  • Attractive interior
  • Excellent safety features
Cons
  • Lackluster infotainment
  • Lack of standard safety features
