Product Overview

Fiat 500X (Type 334) facelift is an entry-level subcompact crossover in production from 2018. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 2.0 liters.
Compared to the pre-facelift, the main difference is the compliance to Euro 6d emission standard. Otherwise, the car received only minor cosmetic updates.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, need to think twice before pulling the trigger: the Fiat 500X is hardly the "offroader" that Fiat would like you to think.

The 500X Sport gets a number of changes inside and out. Dark grey highlights, body-coloured side skirts and wheel arch trims, unique alloy wheels, a chromed dual exhaust and a pseudo-diffuser give a big lift. The equally quick and similarly specified 500X Cross Plus is £1200 cheaper, but it does without the visual upgrades and sharper responses.

Pros
  • Sleek looks
  • Lots of standard equipment
Cons
  • Slightly stiffer suspension
  • No automatic gearbox

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
The 500X sits on the same platform, which is shared with the Jeep Renegade, while suspension still comprises MacPherson struts front and rear. Equipment levels have been given a boost, with traffic sign recognition, speed advisor and lane-keeping assistance standard fare. A 7.0in touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included in the £16,995 starting price. The 500X makes for a largely inoffensive driving experience, but ‘inoffensive’ isn’t going to see it elevated to the status of must-buy vehicle.

Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Not as refined as rivals
  • Lacklustre engine

autocar[3]

Reviewers from autocar have found the following***:
The new 1.0-litre three-cylinder is a really good fit for the 500X. Its 140lb ft of torque provides much of the low- to mid-range response owners of the outgoing diesel will be used to. The primary ride is relatively soft and forgiving, batting away large bumps and potholes at low speeds. But its composure unravels outside city limits, where the series of surface imperfections found on a typical British B-road cause it to fidget and bounce.

Pros

The Fiat 500X is the second best-selling model in the Italian maker's line-up. The design has been freshened front and rear with similar LED lights to those found on the 500 city car, while new colours – like our car's Italia Blue – help the 500X stand out. Inside, Fiat has taken the opportunity to improve the look and feel of the cabin, with more soft-touch materials than before.

Reviewers from autoexpress have found the following***:
The 500X Sport is Fiat's take on the Peugeot 2008 GT-Line and SEAT Arona FR. It's arguably more recognisable than its closest rivals via a significant-yet-tasteful bodykit and twin exhausts. There are two models to choose from; a three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbo mated to a manual gearbox, and a more powerful four- cylinder 1.3- litre unit. Price will play a big part in this car's success, at around £1,000 more than the 500X Cross.

The Fiat 500X is one of the more style-focused offerings in the small SUV/crossover class. Not everyone will fall for the cutesy looks, but those who do will find it a practical lifestyle accessory – even if Fiat no longer offers the more rugged 4x4 version. With a chassis shared with the Jeep Renegade, the 500X's dynamics and handling on the road are surprisingly sharp.

Fiat 500X is the company's second biggest seller after the proper 500. The X shares its underpinnings with another Fiat-Chrysler big seller, the recently refreshed Jeep Renegade. Every 500X comes with a Fiat-skinned version of Chrysler's excellent Uconnect multimedia system. A big change for 2019 is what's under the hood: every 500X gets a new, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine. Unfortunately, the nine-speed automatic gearbox continues to be a sore spot.

Even on a 7-inch screen, FCA's Uconnect tech is great. The driver-assistance features can be dialed in via Uconnect. Cargo space for larger items is on the low side. Overall, the 500X is just a bad value when you consider what else you can get.
