Product Overview

Honda Clarity is a "new-energy" mid-size sedan in production from 2016 to 2021. Unlike other cars on the road today, the Clarity was offered as a hydrogen fuel cell EV, battery EV, and plug-in hybrid.
As such, the Clarity is hardly an attempt at producing a volume seller. Instead, Honda tested with it three new drivetrains that have varying degrees of promise in the coming years.

Reviewer score 63%
Reviewers from cnet have found the following***:
The 2019 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is one of the longest-range PHEVs on the road today for the money. It delivers nearly 50 miles of range per charge at a price competitive with smaller plug-in sedans. As tested at $37,530, I'm not sure it's worth the extra dough to spring for the leather-trimmed Touring model.

Pros
  • Competitively priced

Cons
  • LaneWatch doesn't work on the passenger side of the car

Reviewers from digitaltrends have found the following***:
The EPA rates the 2019 Clarity Plug-In at 110 mpg-e, a measurement that estimates the efficiency of the vehicle. It cruises serenely and quietly, at least until its gas engine is awoken for highway passing. The seats are comfortable and outward visibility is decent thanks in part to an extra rear window.

  • Plump curb weight
