Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II (SEL2470GM2) is a standard zoom lens for Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Sony in 2022, it has 20 elements in 15 groups.
Like most zoom lenses, the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II is externally-zooming. Fortunately, Sony has provided a zoom lock that at least stops zoom creep. For incremental weathers, Sony is kind enough to include weather sealing.
A standard zoom lens with relatively bright maximum aperture, the Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II can be a key piece in a photographer's arsenal, though some may prefer prime lenses in this focal range.
Compared to the original 24-70mm F2.8 GM, the Mark II is lighter, more compact, and better optically. However, it is still no match for most good primes at this focal range, and one can easily get two great Sigma Art lenses and have some change left around.
