Product Overview

BMW Z4 E89 is a compact convertible sports car in production from 2009 to 2013, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 and inline-6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.
Compared to the E85 Z4 that preceded it, the E89 adopted a hard folding top and grew bigger. Still, it has superb proportions similar to the E85. One could even say that the modern spin makes the E89 Z4 one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful car in its class, certainly at its price point.
On the powertrain front, some engines received the ZF 8HP automatic option, while all could be purchased with a manual transmission, which arguably suits the character of the car better.
Unfortunately, the N20 and N54 engines were introduced. The former has proven to be one of the least reliable inline-4s ever.
On the positive side, BMW never made a diesel or AWD nonsense option for the Z4.
