Mercedes-Benz SLK R171 facelift is a compact convertible in production from 2008 to 2011. It was available with a range of inline-4, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 1.8 to 5.4 liters.
Compared to the pre-facelift R171, the facelifted car received few mechanical updates, with small power bumps in the I4 and V6 engines. Many suggest that the balance shaft problem in the M272 V6s has been addressed at this point, though the weakness in the design remained.
The one good engine option is the M113-powered SLK55 AMG. This was the last opportunity to get Mercedes' legendary SOHC M113 V8.
