McLaren P1
Sports CarProduct Gallery
Product Overview
McLaren P1 is a high-performance supercar in production from 2013 to 2015. It was powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines a bi-turbocharged V8 engine that displaced 3.8 liters with a high-output electric motor.
The plug-in hybrid drivetrain can help the owner pose as a "greenie", though those who plan on keeping the car after warranty should be mindful of the complexity. It certainly is not for saving anything in an outlandish supercar like the P1.
Compared to the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 that it competed against, the P1 is much less beautiful and technologically simpler.

carmagazine[1]
Reviewer score 100% (normalized by Neofiliac)You can balance the P1 on the absolute limit, with just a touch of drift, all deliciously controlled by beautifully precise and linear steering. McLaren shunned four-wheel drive, despite all that power and torque, to prioritise feel over outright tyre-pawing grip. It's a better driver's car for it, if not necessarily a faster one.
Pros
- Impressive power and torque
- Superb ride quality
- Impressive infotainment system
Cons
- No four-wheel drive
topgear[2]
Reviewer score 95% (normalized by Neofiliac)£866,000, 903bhp hybrid hypercar promises to be the most involving car to drive on road and track. The heart is the familiar 3.8-litre V8 biturbo that sees duty in the 12C and 650S, but with bigger turbos to produce 727bhp and 531lb ft. It all drives exclusively to the rear wheels via McLaren's seven-speed twin-clutch.
Pros
- Superb electric power
- Powerful turbocharged engine
Cons
- Only 375 have been built
- Limited range
