Product Overview

Lotus Exige Series 2 is a subcompact sports car in production from 2004 to 2011. It was available with a couple of inline-4 engines sourced from Toyota that displaced 1.8 liters paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Launched in 2004, the base Exige used a naturally-aspirated engine. This was replaced by a supercharged unit, and the car became the Exige S.
Utility-minded owners will likely need to keep an alternative for hauling things around, as the tiny cargo space is almost surely insufficient.

Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The Exige 265E is a development prototype created by Lotus Engineering, the Norfolk firm's fiendishly clever consultancy arm. In only five weeks its engineers completely re-engineered the Toyota engine powering the standard Exige S to run on the wheat-derived fuel. The result is the fastest road-legal bio-ethanol car (and the fastest Exige) ever built.
Pros
  • Impressive performance
  • Impressive fuel efficiency
  • Fantastic performance
Cons
  • No ethanol stations in the UK
