Product Overview

Lotus Europa S (Type 121) is a subcompact sports car in production from 2006 to 2010. It was powered by a single turbocharged GM Ecotec inline-4 engine that displaced 2.0 liters paired to a 6-speed Getrag manual transmission.
Based on the Exige, the Europa S brings some practicality to the former with a larger trunk, more sound-deadening, and higher roofline. Still, Lotus managed to keep the vehicle under 1t in weight, which is a great achievement.

Reviewers from carmagazine have found the following***:
Lotus claims the Europa delivers the majority of the Elise and Exige's driving thrills while offering a load more practicality and comfort. Colin Chapman first released the frog-eyed, pick-up-like Europa in 1966 – his first mid-engined road car. We like the Europa; it stays true to Lotus' driver-focused roots, valuing lightweight and immediacy above huge horsepower and scale-tipping gimmicks. However, the Europa doesn't bring enough to the party to tempt coupe fans from their Porsches and BMWs.

The new SE model has some engineering mods to improve those crucial performance stats. 0-60mph sprint time drops from 5.8 to 4.9 seconds and the charge to 100mph takes over two seconds less at 12.4sec. SE-spec cars also get Goodyear tyres to replace the Bridgestones, which are wider front and back, and wrap around new 15-spoke alloys.
