Product Overview

Subaru BRZ (chassis code ZC6) is a compact sports car in production from 2012 to 2020. It was available with a single flat-4 petrol engine that displaced 2.0 liters. It is identical to the Toyota 86.
Subaru has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Utility-minded owners will have to keep in mind that the 330L (12cu-ft) cargo space may not be sufficient.
The H4 engine configuration allowed Subaru to push the engine mostly behind the front axle. Combined with RWD, the handling dynamics of this vehicle is rather encouraging. Unfortunately, the wide engine also made double-wishbone suspension infeasible.

carmagazine[1]

Reviewer score 77% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
2.0-litre flat-four is naturally aspirated for crisper throttle response. Boxer engine is mounted in a compact (at a mere 1285mm tall it's 19mm lower than a Porsche Cayman) and light (1239kg) car. Drive is sent to the rear wheels, via a six-speed manual gearbox and a Torsen differential. In 12 months' time Subaru will sell a de-contented version ripe for tuning.
Pros
  • Lightweight and compact
  • Powerful engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • No air-con
  • Noisy gearbox
