Product Overview

Kia Niro is a compact crossover in production from 2016 to 2021. It was available only as hybrid or plug-in hybrid with a single direct-injected inline-4 petrol engine that displaced 1.6 liters.
The plug-in hybrid drivetrain can help the owner save on fuel and car tax, though those who plan on keeping the car after warranty should be mindful of the complexity. Its official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.
Kia has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it.

Reviewer score 57% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Kia Niro can't match the Toyota Prius for smoothness or efficiency. The plug-in version has a decent all-electric range, while the e-Niro is an EV class leader for how far it can go on a single charge. One aspect of the Niro that is likely to appeal to buyers is its SUV-style body.
Pros
  • Cheap to drive
  • Decent all-electric range
  • Stylish styling
Cons
  • Alternatives are more practical
  • Not as practical as Prius
