Product Overview

BMW X3 E83 is a compact crossover in production from 2003 to 2006, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 and inline-6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.
Slotted under the E70 X5, the E83 is an ugly crossover ostensibly based on the E46 3 Series. Drivetrain-wise, it shares the I6 from the X5 but adds I4 options. Unfortunately, this means that the vehicle is overall unreliable. Another key difference is the use of MacPherson front suspensions.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, need to think twice before pulling the trigger: the BMW X3 is hardly the "offroader" that BMW would like you to think.
