Product Overview

BMW X5 F15 is a mid-size crossover in production from 2013 to 2018. It was available with a range of inline-4, inline-6, and V8 engines that displaced 2.0 to 4.4 liters.
Compared to the E70 LCI X5 that preceded it, the F15 X5 has a much more modern design but is more like another facelift, since the vehicle remained rather similar to the E70. The same N55, N57, and N63 engines as well as the ZF 8HP automatic transmission was kept. Still, BMW made the RWD sDrive models more readily available.
At the same time, BMW introduced inline-4 engines in the form of N20 petrol and N47/B47 diesel. With the exception of B47, these are in competition with the N63 as the least reliable BMW engines.
The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy for the PHEV, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality.
