Product Overview

BMW X5 E53 is a mid-size crossover in production from 2000 to 2003, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-6 and V8 engines that displaced 2.9 to 4.6 liters.
The first crossover from BMW, the E53 X5 opened a new page that was soon filled with similar offerings from its competition. The vehicle itself was related to the E39 5 Series; hence, the name X5. In the pre-LCI stage, the E53 used only a 5-speed manual or auto transmission, the latter being a horrible unit that breaks all the time.ich is smoother than smaller engines and comes with an exhaust note that is sure to please. Compared to I6, H6, V10, or V12, however, the V8 is not very responsive.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, need to think twice before pulling the trigger: the BMW X5 is hardly the "offroader" that BMW would like you to think.
