Lexus LX470 (chassis code J100) is a large luxury SUV in production from 1998 to 2007. It was available with different tunes of the 2UZ-FE naturally-aspirated V8 engine that displaced 4.7 liters.
Produced in three phases, the original LX470 had a 4-speed Aisin transmission, which was updated to a 5-speed unit in 2002. VVT-i was added in 2005 and greatly boosted the engine's output, though the 2UZ became an interference engine from this point on. Throughout the model run, the LX470 was known for its impeccable build quality and world-leading reliability.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, will appreciate the extraordinary approach and departure angles that the chassis offers. Together with the vehicle's durability, it makes for one of the best offroad SUVs in automotive history.
Owners may find that at speed the vehicle consumes a lot more than the numbers indicate, thanks to a disappointing 0.40 coefficient of drag to show for it. With a 15.6L/100km (15.1mpg) fuel "dis-economy", owners have to be prepared to pay for their "smiles-per-mile". Utility-minded owners will love the 2560L (90cu-ft) cargo space.
