Product Overview

Honda CR-V 5 is a compact crossover in production from 2017 to 2019, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 1.5 to 2.4 liters.
Compared to the Mk4 CR-V, the Mk5 has roughly the same shape and exterior styling, though one may consider it even uglier. Unfortunately, Honda became enthused with CVT, seeing that its home-grown automatic transmissions have been troublesome. The diesels use ZF 9HP automatic transmission.
Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, will appreciate the extraordinary approach and departure angles that the chassis offers. Utility-minded owners will love the 2146L (76cu-ft) cargo space.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 48% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The 1.5-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder petrol is available in two states of tune. The manual is available with either front-wheel or four-wheel drive, but the CVT directs power exclusively to all four wheels. The cabin is generally a pleasant enough place to sit in terms of its material appeal. Second-row passengers will find huge amounts of kneeroom even behind tall front-row occupants and the panoramic sunroof doesn't compromise headspace in the back.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Comfortable ride
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Lack of rear-seat space
  • Not particularly fun to drive

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 60% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
Despite its push upmarket, it's still a talented SUV, with loads of space and plenty of kit. It's no sports car, but instead fits the bill as a composed and comfortable family car. Limited engine options and poor fuel economy let it down; we'd wait for the hybrid due early next year.
Pros
  • Punchy engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Limited engine options
