Product Overview

Skoda Kodiaq (chassis code NS7) is a mid-size crossover in production from 2016 to 2020, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 1.4 to 2.0 liters.
A variant of the VW Tiguan Allspace, the Kodiaq is a bland yet decent choice. Utility-minded owners will love the 2065L (73cu-ft) cargo space, though this can be found in some of the larger hatchbacks.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Skoda Kodiaq uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 53% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
Despite the sports theme you can order the vRS with seven seats. The VW Group’s excellent infotainment system is the centrepiece of a neatly unostentatious dash. In the centre console are off-road and snow buttons for the transmission. The Kodiaq goes quite well when the best gear for undamming 369lb ft of torque is found.
Pros
  • Excellent infotainment system
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Lots of room for passengers
Cons
  • Dynamics can be irritating

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 44% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The Skoda outperformed its rivals in many of our tests at the track, mainly because it's the lightest car here by a big margin. It holds onto its crown as the best seven-seat family SUV you can buy, although we'd choose a lower-spec model. The latest version of the Hyundai Santa Fe is the best yet. It's comfortable and the interior improvement means it feels more upmarket. You get more standard kit than on many premium rivals, too.
Pros
  • Excellent off-road capability
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Uncomfortable ride
  • Ridiculously noisy engine

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 52% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The Kodiaq vRS is Skoda's first new vRS model since the second generation Fabia. You get vRS-specific bumpers that look more aggressive than the SportLine car, plus loads of gloss black trim including the grille, mirrors and window surrounds. You also get 20-inch ‘Xtreme’ allloy wheels (you'll recognise these as vRS wheels, like a pixelated Alfa Romeo telephone dial) and red brake calipers attached to larger discs.
Pros
  • Powerful VRS engine
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Not as powerful as rivals
  • Lack of infotainment
