Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz X-Class (chassis code W470) is a large pickup in production from 2017 to 2020. It was available with a range of inline-4 and V6 engines that displaced 2.3 to 3.0 liters. Based on the Nissan Navara, it was an attempt by Mercedes to enter the pickup market, though this effort proved unsuccessful, and the vehicle was quickly discontinued.
As such, the X-Class has a unibody construction, though it uses solid axle in the rear. It has a rather good set of offroad capabilities. Those who drive offroad, for work or leisure, will appreciate the extraordinary approach, departure, and breakover angles that the chassis offers.

Reviewer score 56% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The X-Class will fit the average covered or underground car park. Even the wheelbase is only 233mm (less than a foot) longer than a Land Rover Discovery. The steering is light and there’s very little lost motion at the straight-ahead. The silky automatic ’box works perfectly with this engine.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Quiet, quiet engine
Cons
  • Not the best at lumping bags of cement and junk into the dump
  • No automatic gearbox
