Product Overview

BMW X1 E84 is a subcompact crossover in production from 2009 to 2012, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 and inline-6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.0 liters.
The E84 X1 was related to BMW's E91 3 Series, which is one of the more troublesome 3 Series that BMW has ever made. The problems are carried over to the E84 X1: Some disastrous engines, notably the N20 I4 petrol and the N47 I4 diesel, can be found. Fortunately, BMW also put the N52 in the X1, and it was the only good engine in the pre-facelift E84.
On the positive side, the E84 had a decent styling (for a crossover). It has a rather sweet manual transmission.
