Product Overview

Volvo XC60 (chassis code Y20) is an affordable compact crossover in production from 2008 to 2013, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-6, inline-5, and inline-4 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.2 liters.
Built on Volvo's P3 platform, the XC60 was related to the V70 and S80 of the same era. Unfortunately, whereas the other two were handsome, elegant cars, the jacked-up crossover form factor made the XC60 the least attractive of them all.
At least, Volvo has made available an interesting range of inline engines, including its unique "Small I6" and Volvo's bread and butter I5 engines.

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The two-wheel drive SUV might sound like an oxymoron, but it's a trend that's catching on. Volvo is acknowledging that nobody really uses these posh off-roaders for anything more taxing than soggy car parks and kerb climbing. Losing the rear diff, driveshafts and propshaft saves 80kg compared with the like-for-like all-wheel driver.
Pros
  • Sleek looks
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Alternatives are more fun to drive
  • Alternatives offer more power
  • Not as practical as XC70
