Product Overview

Porsche Cayenne 955 (Typ 9PA) is a mid-size crossover in production from 2002 to 2006, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of VR6 and V8 engines that displaced 3.2 to 4.5 liters.
Interestingly, the original Porsche Cayenne came with optionally manual transmissions in up to the V8-powered Cayenne S. This made the Cayenne one of the few high-performance crossovers with manual transmissions ever manufactured.
The VR6 engine in the base model, unsurprisingly, came directly from Volkswagen. The 4.5L V8s, however, was exclusive to Porsche. Unfortunately, this engine suffers from the same problem that many Porsches from the era did: cylinder bore scoring. This is most evident in the non-turbo V8s.
The 6-speed automatic from Aisin was the same found in Lexus vehicles and remains highly durable.
