Product Overview

Volkswagen Tiguan (Typ 5N) is a compact crossover in production from 2007 to 2011, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 1.4 to 2.0 liters.
Built on VAG's A6 platform, the Tiguan was related to the B6 Passat. It has an awkward rear quarter view, but buyers seem not to care in any way. The vehicle has rather potent, albeit tiny, engine lineup, with high boost, weak internals, and lots of complexity. Earlier models used automatic transmissions, though Volkswagen upgraded them to DSG-branded DCT in 6- and 7-speed guises with the switch to Euro 5.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Volkswagen Tiguan uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.
