Product Overview

Saab 9-5 II SportCombi (chassis code YS3G) is an executive station wagon in production from 2009 to 2011. It was available with a range of inline-4 and V6 engines that displaced 1.6 to 2.8 liters.
For the first time, the 9-5 was available as AWD. Both the manual and automatic transmissions were upgraded to 6-speed variants. Unfortunately, the vehicle was not as elegant as the Mk1 model, and this car marked the end of Saab.
Saab has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it.

Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The Saab 9-5 Sportwagon is a handsome car with a smooth, rounded rump and that unusually raked C pillar. It's available in two trim levels, Vector SE and sportier Aero, the latter identified by its chrome exhaust finishers set into the bumper and standard adaptive dampers. With its basic non-variable effort rack it steers sweetly, filtering out far less noise than is fashionable, but feeling more natural as a result. The body control is good too, but it rides like it's got 50-pence pieces for wheels and sounds like there's 5hp generator tucked behind the dashboard.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good standard equipment
  • Good value
Cons
  • Ride quality still isn’t up to class standards
