Product Overview

Kia Proceed (chassis code CD) is a compact station wagon marketed as "shooting brake" in production from 2018. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 1.6 liters.
Essentially, the CD Proceed is a variation of the Mk3 Kia Ceed Sportswagon (SW). Like the latter, it is powered by a range of tiny downsized engines. To save fuel, the powertrain has been built as light as possible. Thus, while the car looks great, questions remain as to its durability.

External Reviews

autocar[1]

Reviewer score 49% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
The 1.6-litre T-GDi engine has a bassy soundtrack with a purposeful edge. The all-independent suspension keeps tight control of moving masses at all times. Handling is balanced and precise, and if you take your foot from the accelerator at the heart of a corner, you’ll feel the car’s line and attitude both adjust, if only just a bit.
Pros
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Slow to go up the gears
  • No automatic gearbox

Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
Kia is following Mercedes' lead by offering a sleek CLA Shooting Brake in tandem with its more conventional A-Class. Prices should kick off from just under £24,000 rising to just over £28,000, making it pretty good value. Aggressive front and rear bumpers with dual exhausts, a black honeycomb grille with red inserts, red brake calipers and flashes of red along the sills give the GT a really sporting look.
Pros
  • Gorgeous looks
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good handling
Cons
  • Lacklustre engine
  • Not the most fun to drive

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 55% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The Kia Proceed GT-Line aims to bring some of the showbiz shine down from the range-topping Ceed GT, which is a sort of sub-GTi warm hatch with 198bhp. With the big bumpers, deep side skirts, Kia's trademark ‘ice-cube' LED daytime running lights and 17-inch alloys, it's easy enough to get visually fooled into thinking this is a properly hot little number. On the inside it's all dark glossiness, fancy-looking seats, silver stitching and easily interpreted secondary controls. It's almost impossible to execute fast, smooth changes when it feels like you're dealing with a rolled up Wellington boot jammed into a grating.
Pros
  • Fun to drive
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Noisy engine
  • Not the most fun to drive
