Product Overview

Volvo V70 III is an executive station wagon in production from 2007 to 2013, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4, inline-5, and inline-6 engines that displaced 1.6 to 3.2 liters.
Unlike the Gen2 V70, which used an all-I5 engine lineup, the Gen3 V70 introduced both smaller and larger engine options. The more interesting ones, besides the I5s, are Volvo's "Small I6" inline-6 engines in either 3.2L naturally-aspirated form or 3.0L turbocharged (T6) form.
In many aspects, the pre-facelift Gen3 V70 is an evolution of the Gen2 V70 design-wise.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the Volvo V70 III uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.

External Reviews

carmagazine[1]

Reviewer score 74% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The V70 is identical to the S80 saloon from the B-pillars forward. It's still comfortable to think Volvo might have deigned the wagon first, saloon second. There is a host of useful features, like the dog guard that drops down from the roof, 40:20:40 slit-folding rear backrests and child booster seats that lift up from the rear seat cushion.
Pros
  • Stylish looks
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Good standard equipment
Cons
  • Lacklustre engine range
  • No four-cylinder option
