Product Overview

Volkswagen Golf Mk4 Variant (chassis code 1J) is a compact station wagon in production from 1999 to 2006. It was available with a range of inline-4, VR5, and VR6 engines that displaced 1.4 to 2.8 liters.
Introduced at a time when VW had a number of interesting engine designs, the Mk4 Golf Variant is most notable for its use of VR5 and VR6 petrol engines. These engines allowed Volkswagen to achieve a level of output that similarly-sized vehicles from the competition could not match. Unsurprisingly, manual transmission was widely available.
Unfortunately, VW managed cost by using a torsion beam semi-independent suspension for the rear, which is not ideal for handling.
