Product Overview

Subaru Outback 4 (chassis code BR) is a mid-size crossover in production from 2009 to 2014. It was available with a range of flat-4 and flat-6 engines that displaced 2.0 to 3.6 liters.
Compared to the Gen3 Subaru Outback, the BR Outback finally completed its transformation from a station wagon to crossover. By not hiding its identity any further, the Gen4 Outback no longer look awkward, even though like many crossovers it is decidedly not a looker.
Unfortunately, the great H6 engine is paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission, which at this point was outdated. H4 engines were stuck with CVTs, which have proven problematic.
