Product Overview

Subaru Outback 3 (chassis code BP) is a mid-size station wagon in production from 2003 to 2009. It was available with a range of flat-4 and flat-6 engines that displaced 2.5 to 3.0 liters.
Based on the Gen4 Subaru Legacy, the Outback 3 is the "uglified" version with a higher roofline, more ground clearance, and more plastic thrown on. Unfortunately, while the Legacy 3 was a notable improvement over its predecessor in styling, the Outback 3 is even uglier: The elegant design of the former is less resilient to the "plastic treatment".
Many of the same engines from the previous generation were carried over and up-rated. A diesel was also introduced in the EU.
While manual transmission was available, the automatics were rather outdated 4- and 5-speed at this point.
