Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate S205 is a compact executive station wagon in production from 2014 to 2018, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 1.6 to 4.0 liters.
Compared to the S204, the S205 C-Class Estate is based on a more elegant W205 C-Class sedan. While this language did not work as well for the sedan, the S205 Estate may be argued to be rather successful (though the S213 E-Class Estate is better to many).
Powertrain-wise, Mercedes could no longer resist the downsizing trend, and the S205 suffered as a result. These smaller, turbocharged petrol engines have proven to be more reliable than BMW and VAG's equivalent units, though they are still not comparable to their NA predecessors in terms of ease of maintenance and long-term durability.
One positive is that the C 63 and C 63 S AMG models used the powerful and torquey M177 bi-turbo V8. However, we should be mindful of the likely shorter service life of this engine compared to older Mercedes V8s due to the hot-vee configuration that causes heat accumulation around the engine head.
Mercedes-Benz has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.28 coefficient of drag to show for it. Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the Mercedes-Benz finally got rid of MacPherson strut suspensions in favor of a setup found in higher-end Mercedes vehicles.
