Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate S204 is a compact executive station wagon in production from 2007 to 2011, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 1.6 to 6.2 liters.
Compared to the S203 C-Class Estate, the S204 adopts a more angular styling that marks an attempt to return to the style of 1990s. Mechanically, the 5-speed 5G-Tronic automatic transmission was largely dropped in favor of the 7G-Tronic, which has at this point received an update but is still not as reliable or as smooth. Fortunately, 6-speed manual transmission was still widely available.
In place of the M113-powered C 55 AMG, the new M156 6.2L NA V8 is introduced. This AMG-engineered engine has perhaps the best characters ever put in a Mercedes; however, it has a few well-known mechanical issues including premature cam wear and head bolt corrosion.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the S204 C-class Estate uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.
