Product Overview

Chrysler 300 (chassis code LX) is a full-size sedan in production from 2004 to 2010. It was available with a range of V6 and V8 engines that displaced 2.7 to 6.1 liters.
Unlike Chrysler sedans made in the decade prior to its launch, the Chrysler 300 finally returned to the magic formula of big engine + RWD. This greatly elevated sales and the brand image of the company, which is hardly surprising: what surprises is that it took Chrysler years of financial difficulty to realize that consumers are not as dim as some marketers would like one to believe.
Atop the V6 engines that could be found in the LHS and 300M that preceded the Gen1 300, Chrysler added the new 5.7- and 6.1-liter Hemi V8s that became instant hit. For good measure, an OM642 V6 diesel from Mercedes was also made available.
While the old 4-speed Chrysler auto box was still used, higher-end models used Mercedes 5G-Tronic (also known as W5A580 or NAG1) 5-speed automatic transmission.
Double-wishbone + multilink suspensions were used for comfort and handling.
Even though today the LX 300 is nothing special, it might just be the vehicle that saved Chrysler.

Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The 300C divides opinions like few big saloons – you either love or hate the brash stateside image it portrays. However, dig beneath that imposing exterior, and in CRD form, it makes a surprisingly rational case for itself. Seating and visibility are excellent, and the beautiful instrumentation is a joy to behold.
Pros
  • Gorgeous interior
  • Impressive handling
  • Decent ride quality
Cons
  • Slightly chunky interior
  • Lack of room for heads and legs
