Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz E-class W211 facelift is an executive sedan in production from 2006 to 2009. It was available with a range of V6, V8, and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.8 to 6.2 liters.
With this facelift, Mercedes started rolling out the new 7-speed 722.9 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission on the RWD models. Many engines were "upgraded" to a new generation of engines, usually with slightly larger displacement and sometime with direct-injection.
Gone is the great supercharged E55 AMG. Replacing it was the E63 AMG powered by a 6.2L naturally-aspirated M156 V8. This engine has even more character than the M113K and is held by many to be one of the greats from Affalterbach. It was the first engine fully developed by AMG. One thing to look out for, however, is premature cam wear on this engine.
Mercedes-Benz has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.27 coefficient of drag to show for it.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the W211 comes with double-wishbone front with multi-link rear suspensions. It should be noted that the front upper control arm is a wishbone, while the front lower control arms are separate a la multi-link. This improves cornering performance while reducing some of the durability penalties of full multi-link setups.
