Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz E-class W210 facelift is an executive sedan in production from 1999 to 2002. It was available with a range of inline-4, inline-6, V6, V8, and inline-5 engines that displaced 2.0 to 5.4 liters.
The most exciting engine option was undoubtedly the 5.4L naturally-aspirated M113 V8 engine, which was paired to Mercedes' robust 5G-TRONIC 5-speed automatic transmission. Interestingly, Mercedes also offered this vehicle in AWD (4MATIC) guise, which hardly suits the character of the car.
In fact, this generation is the beginning of Merc's obsession with AWD, which partly can be ascribed to the marketing success of Audi's quattro system.
The main mechanical updates in this facelift, besides the sweeping introduction of 4MATIC, include the upgrade of manual transmission to 6-speed and the introduction of new engines.
Unfortunately, the W210 E-class suffers from frequent rust issues that was never successfully addressed.
