Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz C-class W204 is a compact executive sedan in production from 2007 to 2011, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 1.6 to 6.2 liters.
Undoubtedly, the most interesting engine offered was the M156E63 naturally-aspirated 6.2L V8 engine. It has been argued by some to be among the best AMG engines ever and indeed was the first engine engineered by AMG (rather than tuned by them). It is also the largest post-war V8 from Mercedes. Unfortunately, this engine, while full of characters, has some weaknesses in premature wears, and frequent oil changes are needed to mitigate this issue.
Styling-wise, it is probably a wash compared to facelift W203. Neither really has the confidence of the W202, and the W204 may appear a bit over-styled in AMG form and bland elsewhere.
A mix of 5G- and 7G-Tronic transmissions were used, including the combination of 7G-Tronic with AWD. As time passes by, this last combination has proven to be the least desirable for long-term ownership.
Mercedes-Benz has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.25 coefficient of drag to show for it.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the W204 still uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.
