Product Overview

Mercedes-Benz C-class W203 facelift is a compact-executive sedan in production from 2004 to 2007. It was available with a range of I4, I5, V6, and V8 engines that displaced 1.8 to 5.4 liters.
The most welcoming update from the pre-facelift model was definitely the reintroduction of the C55 AMG with the naturally-aspirated 5.4L M113E55 engine paired to the 5G-TRONIC automatic transmission (ironically the same powertrain found in the facelift W202). Supposedly, the facelift model also suffered less from rust problems, though Mercedes did not change the chassis design.
At the same time, the facelift W203 introduced the 722.9 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. Unfortunately, these transmissions were known to be rather a let-down from the smooth and reliable 5G-Tronic that took Mercedes many revisions to perfect.
Fortunately, the 4Matic AWD models and the AMGs kept the 5-speed auto. Manual transmission was available for all other RWD engines. This made it easy to avoid the 7G-Tronic.
Mercedes-Benz has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.26 coefficient of drag to show for it.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the W203 facelift continued to use MacPherson front suspension.
