Product Overview

Audi A8 D4 (Typ 4H) is a full-size luxury sedan in production from 2010 to 2013, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of V6, V8, W12, and (regrettably) inline-4 engines that displaced 2.0 to 6.3 liters.
The most notable and welcome update from D3 is the new 8-speed ZF 8HP automatic transmission, which supplanted the ZF 6HP and CVT units. This transmission has proven to be one of the best automatics to have ever come out of Germany in terms of both performance and reliability.
Engine-wise, Audi started rolling out the 4.0 TFSI hot-vee bi-turbo V8. This engine is an improvement over the 4.2 FSI in many ways, not least in terms of reliability (even though it is a complex and hardly robust unit itself). Variations of this engine power many Audi, Bentley, and Porsche vehicles to this day.
The W12 engine is bored out to 86mm with a marginally longer stroke to achieve 6.3L of displacement. This engine is indeed more compact than the 4.0 TFSI.
Audi has made a good effort in aerodynamics, with a decent 0.26 coefficient of drag to show for it.
Drivers who appreciate handling will be pleased to know that the A8 comes with multi-link suspensions at all four corners. This provides the best cornering performance and tunability, at the expense of cost and a little bit of durability.
