Product Overview

Volkswagen Passat B5 is a mid-size sedan in production from 1996 to 2000, whereupon it received a facelift. It was available with a range of inline-4, VR5, and V6 engines that displaced 1.6 to 2.8 liters.
The most interesting engine option is probably the 2.3-liter VR5 (code AGZ), which is one of the only internal combustion engines with this configuration ever build.
The Volkswagen Passat (B5) is limited to V6 engine, which requires an additional balance shaft and produces neither good sound, good torque, or good power response.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the B5 Passat B5 uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance. The rear suspension is not fully independent, either.
