Product Overview

Ford Mondeo 4 is a large sedan in production from 2014 to 2018, whereupon it received a facelift. It is available with a range of inline-3 and inline-4 engines that displaced 1.0 to 2.0 liters.
Fully in the downsized era, the Mondeo Gen4 is limited to small forced induction engines. Thankfully, the relatively large chassis with FWD and small engines made these vehicles relatively easy to work on. However, the drivetrain became more lethargic, even though on paper they were quite "good".
The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality. The Gen4 Mondeo also comes with a high towing capacity.
Drivers who appreciate handling should keep in mind that the the Mondeo 4 still uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.

Reviewer score 36% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
This is Ford's first hybrid to reach Europe. Available in Titanium, Vignale spec. Priced from £27,000 in the UK. Battery pack is actually assembled in Ford's Rawsonville plant in Michigan. In total there's 184bhp when both motors combine, but there's a worryingly scant 128lb ft of torque.
Pros
  • Powerful petrol engine
  • Comfortable ride
  • Decent handling
Cons
  • Uncomfortable to drive
  • Comes with a lot of kit
