BMW M3 E90 is a high-performance executive sedan based on the E90 in production from 2008 to 2011. It is available with an S65 naturally-aspirated V8 engine that displaced 4.0 to 4.4 liters.
The standard model used the S65B40 with 4.0L of displacement. Both manual and DCT were available. This engine featured individual throttle bodies, double-VANOS, and ultra-high (for V8) 8400rpm redline.
The S65B44 found in the CRT version was a longer-stroke version of the S65 engine. It was also paired to titanium exhaust.
The E90 M3 (together with the E91 and E92 variants) was the only generation of M3 to feature a V8. Even though this made for a lot of difficulties in DIY, many enthusiasts love this generation of M3 for its screaming engine.
The 6-speed manual is today the best loved option.
Unfortunately, the E90 still used MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance.
