Product Overview

Mazda 6 / Atenza III (code GJ) facelift is a mid-size sports sedan in production from 2015 to 2017, whereupon it received the second facelift in its lifecycle. It is available with a range of inline-4 engine options that displaced 2.0 to 2.5 liters.
Around this time, the Euro 6 standards came into effect, and this facelift mainly addressed this for the petrol engines. On paper, the vehicles did not lose power, though the addition of "Gasoline Particulate Filter" (GPF) usually led to a mix of higher fuel consumption, lower power output, and worse long-term reliability.
The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality. The vehicle also comes with a high towing capacity.

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The Mazda 3's 2.0 petrol is a bit short on torque but blessed with naturally zingy throttle response and clean, smooth journey to the redline. It's claimed to emit a credible 119g/km of CO2, with the standard manual gearbox rather than the optional auto, and averages 55.4mpg. The 2.2 is a fantastic engine, feeling almost like a petrol thanks to its flexible, free-revving character.
Pros
  • Fantastic engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Flexible drivability
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment system
