Product Overview

Mazda 3 / Axela III facelift curiously received a new chassis code BN. It represents small updates in the interior and some engine options. The BN Mazda 3 Gen3 was in production from 2016 to 2018. It is available with a range of inline-4 engines that displaced 1.5 to 2.5 liters.
The official fuel economy rating is exceptionally rosy, though it may cast more doubts on the trustworthiness of the regulators and perhaps the owner's own sanity than it relates to reality. The vehicle also comes with a high towing capacity.
In most other aspects, it remains largely faithful to the successful design of the original Gen3 Mazda 3.

carmagazine[1]

Reviewer score 76% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
The Mazda 3's 2.0 petrol is a bit short on torque but blessed with naturally zingy throttle response and clean, smooth journey to the redline. It's claimed to emit a credible 119g/km of CO2, with the standard manual gearbox rather than the optional auto, and averages 55.4mpg. The 2.2 is a fantastic engine, feeling almost like a petrol thanks to its flexible, free-revving character.
Pros
  • Fantastic engine
  • Comfortable to drive
  • Flexible drivability
Cons
  • Fiddly infotainment system
