Product Overview

Subaru WRX (code VA) is a compact sports sedan in production from 2014 to 2017, whereupon it received a facelift. It is available with two flat-4 engines that displaced 2.0L to 2.5L.
The VA WRX is the first generation that Subaru marketed internationally independent of the Impreza, which the WRX originally based on. Subaru kept the turbocharged H4 + symmetric AWD setup that drivers around the world enjoyed.
Drivers who appreciate handling, however, should keep in mind that the WRX still uses MacPherson front suspension, which doesn't provide the best cornering performance. It also limits the options in tuning.

carmagazine[1]

Reviewer score 86% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
Firm steering is laser accurate and full of feedback to let you know just how hard you can push the Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres. The body is very tightly tied down, so none of the left-right flicks throw it off-balance. After the turbo-boosted eagerness that's so noticeable around town, the off-the-leash performance is perhaps a little disappointing.
Pros
  • Gorgeous looks
  • Punchy handling
  • Impressive handling
Cons
  • Too much turbo lag
  • Not the most fun to drive

Reviewer score 85% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cnet have found:
The S209 uses the same Brembo brake system as the base STI and Type RA. It features heavier-duty pads that aim to reduce fade. Subaru is bringing just 209 examples of the S209 to the US, its sole market. Deliveries are expected to begin around November.
Pros
  • Powerful engine
  • Impressive handling
  • Powerful turbocharged engine
Cons
  • Somewhat high price
