Product Overview

Subaru Impreza 5 (code GK) is an affordable mid-size sedan in production since 2016. It is available with a range of flat-4 engine that displaces 1.6L to 2.0L.
Unlike earlier Imprezas, the Impreza 5 has completely shed any sporting pretense. Instead, it now caters to those who do not care for driving. New is a hybrid option, while the automatic model still uses a CVT. The 6-speed manual transmission is missing, with only a 5-speed being offered.

Reviewer score 41% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autocar have found:
, consists of MacPherson struts up front and a double wishbone arrangement at the rear. There’s plenty of space on offer, and you get the impression the materials used here will stand up to a fair amount of rough and tumble. At £25,560, the Impreza is expensive, too. Sure, you get heated seats, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, DAB radio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, but for similar money you could have a Volkswagen Golf GT.
Pros
  • Solid build quality
  • Decent on-road performance
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Poor fuel economy
  • Not particularly refined

autoexpress[2]

Reviewer score 57% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from autoexpress have found:
The fifth generation Subaru Impreza represents a huge improvement over the last car. It offers more space inside, a better cabin and surprisingly good road manners. The excellent EyeSight pre-collision driver assist system is fitted as standard, which contributes to a maximum five-star safety rating. There's only one trim level available in the UK, with the SE model loaded with standard kit.
Pros
  • More spacious cabin
  • Excellent safety credentials
  • Decent infotainment system
Cons
  • Only one trim level available in the UK

carmagazine[3]

Reviewer score 50% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from carmagazine have found:
There are no turbos, just 104bhp and it takes 13.7sec to get to 62mph. Four-wheel drive naturally, with a lever to switch between high and low ratios. Climate control, a CD player, four electric windows, alloy wheels and a brace of airbags.
Pros
  • Fantastic four-wheel drive
  • Comfortable to drive
Cons
  • Lack of grunt
  • Not very fun to drive
