Product Overview

Fujifilm GFX 50R is a high-end. Introduced by Fujifilm in 2018, it comes with a medium format sensor with 51 MP (8256 x 6192) resolution and a 3.69 million-dot EVF.
The camera has a usable battery life, though a second battery may be a good thing to keep in your camera bag. The GFX 50R's 3.0 fps burst rate limits its use for certain types of photography, but it is hardly something that most photographers should worry about.
The Fujifilm GFX 50R comes with 425 autofocus points.

cameralabs[1]

Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from cameralabs have found:
The Fujifilm GFX 50R is a rangefinder-styled medium format mirrorless camera with 50 Megapixels and a built-in electronic viewfinder. Announced in September 2018, it’s the second model in the GFX series, following the G FX 50S which launched the format two years previously. It shares the same sensor and quality as the original 50S, but packs it into a comfortably smaller and lighter body. Tethered shooting is also available with support for Adobe photoshop and Capture One Pro.
Pros
  • Smaller and lighter body
  • Built-in electronic viewfinder
  • Tethered shooting
Cons
  • No tilting viewfinder

Reviewer score 75% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The GFX 50R is essentially a rehash of the 50S, but that's not a bad thing. It costs less, is just as rugged and weatherproof, and delivers the exact same image quality. Photographers in medium format imaging won't do better than Fujifilm when it comes to value for the dollar.
Pros
  • Fantastic image quality
  • Full-frame rangefinder
  • Fully electronic shutter
  • In-body image stabilization
Cons
  • Slightly soft vignette
  • No manual focus

techradar[3]

Reviewer score 64% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
The GFX 50R has been built around the same 51.4MP (effective) medium-format sensor as the one inside the G FX 50S. The mount itself is Fujifim's G mount, which accepts the company's GF-branded lenses. Right now the range comprises six prime options and a single zoom, as well as a teleconverter and a couple of macro extension tubes.
Pros
  • Lightweight and compact
  • Good image quality
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No teleconverter or macro extension tubes
  • No Eterna Film Simulation mode

trustedreviews[4]

Reviewer score 78% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from trustedreviews have found:
Fujifilm GFX 50R is a great option at this price for those who love their medium-format photography. Images captured up to around ISO 3200 and 6400 retain excellent detail on the whole. There’s no sensor-based image stabilisation, although the equivalent technology is available in three lenses so far.
Pros
  • Fantastic image quality
  • Easy to use
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No sensor-based image stabilisation
  • No 4K video
