Product Overview

Canon EOS M50 Mark II (EOS Kiss M2) is an affordable mirrorless camera in the Canon EF-M-mount system. Introduced by Canon in 2020, it comes with an APS-C sensor with 24 MP (6000 x 4000) resolution and a 2.36 million-dot EVF.
The camera has a poor battery life, and a second or third battery may be needed to get you through the day. The 10.0 fps burst rate serves enthusiasts well enough, though some professionals may find it limiting.
The EOS M50 Mark II comes with a fully articulated touch display and 143 autofocus points.

External Reviews

digitalpicture[1]

Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from digitalpicture have found:
The Canon EOS M50 II is available (in black or white) as a body-only kit. It is available in a kit with the very small Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens. If an electrical outlet is available, the Canon CA-PS700 AC Adapter and Canon AC Adapter Kit ACK-E12 will provide continuous power.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality and small size
  • Excellent battery life
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • No EVF

Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from dpreview have found:
The EOS M50 Mark II is a good camera for amateurs or serious vloggers. You must have 1,000 YouTube subscribers to stream direct to YouTube with the camera. Autofocus is where this camera really shines, since it's impressively fast and accurate. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will make it easy to share frames directly from the camera to your phone.
Pros
  • Fast and accurate autofocus
  • Easy to operate
  • Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Cons
  • 1,000-subscriber limit

pcmag[3]

Reviewer score 67% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from pcmag have found:
The M50 Mark II's 24MP sensor isn't the latest, but for still imaging it's still quite competitive, even with newer chips. It's not quite the same for video, though. The sensor's readout speed isn't as quick, and that limits video options. Family photographers will appreciate the ease of use, lightweight body, and built-in flash.
Pros
  • Compact, lightweight design
  • Automatic autofocus
  • Built-in flash
  • Full-size and lossless compressed C-Raw formats
Cons
  • No 4K video
  • No manual control

rtings[4]

Reviewer score 27% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from rtings have found:
The Canon EOS M50 Mark II is good for travel photography. It's very portable with its included kit lens and can fit into most small camera bags. It has great image quality, with good noise handling capability at higher ISO levels. Video quality overall is mediocre in FHD and disappointing in 4k.
Pros
  • Great image quality
  • Good noise handling capability at higher ISO levels
  • Compact and portable design
  • Excellent autofocus performance in FHD
  • Impressive dynamic range
Cons
  • Lacks in-body image stabilization
  • Poor battery life
  • No silent continuous shooting mode

techradar[5]

Reviewer score 73% (normalized by Neofiliac)
Reviewers from techradar have found:
Canon EOS M50 Mark II has the same 24MP sensor as the M50. It's the same well-built body, with a small, compact form factor that makes for an excellent traveling companion. Despite being a new model, there's still no weather sealing here, but don't be fooled by the camera's plasticky look.
Pros
  • Excellent image quality
  • Easy to use
  • Good battery life
Cons
  • No weather sealing
  • No in-body image stabilization
