Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary
Full-Frame LensProduct Gallery
Product Overview
Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary is a wide-angle prime lens for Leica L-mount and Sony E-mount. It covers the full-frame image circle. Introduced by Sigma in 2021, it has 13 elements in 11 groups.
For incremental weathers, Sigma is kind enough to include weather sealing. On the lens barrel, one can find a physical aperture ring. Those who wish to focus manually can have the best of both worlds (with the usual caveats).
As a wide-angle prime lens that happens to have relatively small maximum aperture, it is best suited for landscape photography, though some may wish for a brighter alternative for versatility. Even though the lens is not stabilized, at this focal range it does not usually matter. In fact, some may be able to get cleaner corners without image stabilization.

cameralabs[1]
Reviewer score 84% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Sigma 24mm f2 DG DN is a very attractive lens for Sony and L-mount mirrorless owners who want a fast-aperture wide angle prime without the cost or heft of 1.4 models. In my tests it delivered a visibly shallower depth of field than recent f2.8 and 3.5 versions, without ever compromising on sharpness. While some barrel distortion and vignetting were visible, both can be effectively corrected with lens compensations.
Pros
- Excellent sharpness at f2
- Excellent build quality
- Compact and compact
Cons
- Barely any barrel distortion or vignetting

pcmag[3]
Reviewer score 79% (normalized by Neofiliac)At wide apertures, the 24mm F2 produces photos with a shallow depth of field. The quality is in line with other modern lenses and emphasizes smooth, soft blur. Resolution holds steady down through f/11. Optical diffraction softens results a little at f/16 and noticeably at the smallest f/22 setting.
Pros
- Sharp f/2.2 aperture
- Easy to move control to the camera body
- Excellent autofocus
Cons
- Lacks zoom-out effect when shifting focus from near to distant subjects
sonyalpha[4]
Reviewer score 69% (normalized by Neofiliac)The Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN Contemporary (619 euros) is a more classical prime focusing on excellence and compactness while keeping a fast aperture. The lens offers globally excellent results overall : excellent sharpness on the entire frame, excellent build quality and ergonomics, very good background blur and bokeh balls, very low coma for Astrophotography, reasonable price. The weaknesses are : its average resistance to flare and its distortion that should be corrected in a future Lightroom lens profile.
Pros
- Excellent sharpness overall (on 61Mpix)
- Excellent build quality and ergonomics, very good background blur and bokeh balls
- Very low coma for Astrophotography, reasonable price
Cons
- High distortion (not a real issue when we have a Lightroom profile) and the average resistance to flare
